Andrea Palladio (1508 - 1580) was an Italian architect of the Renaissance in the Republic of Venice. Palladio, influenced by Greek-Roman architecture, is considered the most influential figure in the history of Western architecture. All its buildings are located in northern Italy; one of the most important are located a few minutes from Asolo. Tourists come from all over the world to visit these Unesco heritage architectural masterpieces: Villa Barbaro in Maser and Villa Emo in Fanzolo di Vedelago. Traveling only an hour away, you can visit Villa Valmarana at the Nani, Villa La Rotonda and the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza. Possagno, birthplace of the legendary sculptor Antonio Canova is located just 8 km from Asolo and is famous for the Temple designed and built by the sculptor who is the current Cathedral of the country; we suggest visiting the Gipsoteca, built in 1836, which collects almost all the original models of his sculptures. In the immediate vicinity it is possible to visit the Brion tomb of the architect Carlo Scarpa.
